Those of you who don’t know, Throwback Thursday is a ‘thing’ in the Land of Social Media. It happens on a Thursday (as the name might suggest) and is a day when we remember the wonders of yester-year.
Some people eat Marathon bars for breakfast, some like to wear Jane Fonda leotards with matching leg-warmers, some even like to crack out the trusty Nokia 3310 and play Snake all day (using only 2% battery, *sigh*).
At The Peloton, we like to crack open the Extended Trial Balances and use real-live writing implements. Gone are the trusty calculators, and in is the mental arithmatic (“brain maffs” we like to call it) – which is fine for our Further-Mathlete’s Michelle Rowe and Talan Archbold – but the rest of us are all lagging behind doing our 9x table using the Finger Method, commonly taught to 6 year olds. In the mean time we all get half an hour on the type-writer and eat Spam and Smash for lunch.
Let’s get back to the point of hashtagthrowbackthursday.
Michelle – having recently moved house – found her late father’s old accountancy textbooks, old manual workings, t-accounts and a lovely photograph of Mr Rex Rowe working hard at his old desk. Michelle’s path was laid out there and then, all we can say is thank goodness for Rex Rowe!
