Well folks, we have a new addition! Emma Hall started a month ago and she has absolutely flown through our rigorous initiation boot camp and emerged with the “Yellow Jumper” (yes I said ‘jumper’). Emma loves cycling so we didn’t even need to explain concept of the peloton!

Emma has joined The Peloton with a firm grounding in all things accountancy and also a vast knowledge of insolvency. She is now just one exam away from the Chartered Accountant status…

Career in a nutshell: After qualifying in equine business management and spending a year working on a professional show jumping yard, I decided that my childhood dream of career in horses wasn’t actually for me, and instead began training to become an accountant. I have had a mixture of experience since, spending a number of years in industry, and then practice, and finally 6 years working for a firm of insolvency practitioners. I recently decided to return to accountancy practice and finish my ACCA qualification, and have been  fortunate enough to find myself on the Peloton team!

Certificates: AAT, CPI (An insolvency qualification) and one more exam left to sit until I can finally say ACCA!

Favourite job: Hmm… number crunching? A bit like Helen, I like working things out and making things balance.

Best thing I have ever done:

Work – Every time I pass another stage of my ACCA I think it’s the greatest achievement, looking forward to getting the final one under my belt and being able to say that I am ACCA qualified!

Home – A couple of cycling achievements – making it up to the top of the Stelvio – a 23km climb in Italy encompassing 48 switch backs – to watch the finish of the penultimate stage of the Giro D’ialia. It was a beautiful hot day at the bottom, and  then we were surrounded by snow at the summit. Needless to say, it was a very cold decent!

Also I have another (I can’t choose!)… taking part in Levi Leipheimers Grand Fondo in California with 7,500 other riders, a stunning 103 mile route that started with closed roads leading out of Santa Rosa, over the top of the breath taking King Ridge in the scorching midday heat, finishing with a fat tyre with Levi at the finish.

Life outside of work: Busy, spent either looking after and competing my horse “The Hillbilly” or trying to get a few miles in on my bike..

What people say about me: Always on the go!

Thanks Emma, interview officially over – you can relax!
