Can I help?
I have learned that unless there is someone in your network to whom you are accountable then it’s highly unlikely you will do what you say you will do. My role is to be that person.
This will involve me challenging you on your ideas, discussing, scoping out and sense-checking options and ultimately providing focus.
I have a proven track record, working within a range of businesses, including a large number of independent traders as well as larger established businesses where this role has been enormously successful and I would be happy to introduce you to any of these clients with whom I have worked to get an independent and impartial view of my services.
How does it work?
The first step is to find out precisely where you are heading. That involves you describing just how you see your business and your life working out. One would hope that you are able to set some fairly aspirational targets that are enough to get you motivated and get the program started. Ordinarily we would spend half a day working on this, the output of which would include a financial roadmap so that we can get started and measure precisely how well we are doing.
The next step is to get into regular 30 day meetings where, amongst other things, we discuss:
the point here is to review the actions of the last 30 days and consider what worked, what didn’t and what do we need to change. Having reviewed the past we then need to consider the next 30 days and agree the actions.
Some of the decisions will be fairly straight forward, others significant. But the point of constant measuring is to allow us to fine tune our actions and ensure we have precise focus on exactly what needs to be done and in what order. It’s about making the right decisions in the right order at the right time.
That may sound rather obvious but it’s very, very easy to become distracted with the day job. Life gets in the way, we’ve experienced that a thousand times. My role is to help you when this happens, to get you back on track, to focus on the most important things (and not get distracted by the numerous things that come along to steal our attention), to build a hierarchy of tasks that means we put the first things first.
All businesses need process and it’s the formality of the 30 day meeting that allows the business to gain traction. The 30 day meeting is also the platform at which you become accountable. Having set the goals, agreed the tasks, it’s down to execution, and that’s your role. My role is help ensure you do what you say you are going to do and kick you up the backside if you don’t.
Will it work?
Well that’s up to you. If we agree the goals and agree the actions then diligently completing those tasks is a sure fire way to make sure you are heading in the right direction. The projects that don’t get where they want to are those that don’t take any action.
To date every single business I have worked with long term has made significant progress.
We’ve been meeting with the Peloton team for almost a year and our monthly visits have really helped to provide a better structure to our business. We’re more focused now on what works and leaving behind the things that don’t. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Peloton team and their support to our business is second to none!
